Just four months after the start of the 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster, his hardtop companion, the Cayman 718 emerged. The 718 Cayman and Cayman S will debut at the Bejing Auto Show, and as the roadster, they will receive new turbocharged flat-fours where it was once naturally sucked flat-six. The good news is that for the first time ever, the Cayman is actually cheaper than the Boxster.
2017 Porsche 718 Cayman Design
The 2017 Porsche 718 Cayman retains the general shape and size of its predecessor, except to be 0.5 inches shorter in height. What he wins, however, are new design details that make him sharper than his predecessor. These modifications include a new front apron with improved air intakes, new four-point headlights and taillights, wider rear fairing and more.

Inside, the 718 Cayman is all-new and draws some inspiration from the 918 Spyder, like its sports steering wheel. The parts that stand out most as new are the upper part of the dashboard and the vents. New connectivity and technology options, such as Porsche Communication Management, an eight-speaker system, Apple CarPlay, and more, are making their debut this year.
2017 Porsche 718 Cayman Engine
While the body of the 2017 Porsche Cayman 718 looks like the previous model, there are two new engines that are just waiting to roar to life under its hood. Replacing the outgoing six-cylinder engines are two turbocharged flat-four cylinder engines. The 2.0 liter in the Cayman 718 produces 300 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque, while the 2.5-liter in the 718 Cayman S offers 350 horsepower and 309 pound-feet of torque.
What makes the 2.5-liter in the Cayman S 718 so unique is the technology it uses to help it run those fast times. The variable geometry of the turbine, as well as the built-in drain valve, help you get the full lifting whenever you feel the need. This helps to give the Cayman S a top track speed of 177 mph (the Cayman is 170) and a 0 to 60 sprint time of 4.0 seconds (the Cayman is 4.5).
Release Date and Price
Porsche says the 718 Cayman and Cayman S will hit US dealers in November. Prices for the Cayman 718 starts at $ 53,900, while the Cayman 718 starts at $ 66,300.
