Aston Martin announced the Vanquish S, the latest evolution in its line of luxurious and powerful big tourers, by the end of 2016. Now the carmaker has revealed the drop-top version of this powerful two-door cruiser, the 2018 Aston Martin Vanquish S Volante.
2018 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante Outside
The body is constructed of aluminum and carbon fiber, giving it an unladen weight of 3,834 pounds (1739 kilograms), and a 51 per cent front, rear 49 per cent distribution. The new carbon fiber front separator and rear diffusers offer even better stability at speed and further enhance this iconic style. A 20-inch, 10-spoke, shiny black alloy wheelset comes standard, as are the front splitter, diffuser, side rails and Alcantara carbon fiber seats. For a little more scratches, buyers can choose between four different 20 inch wheel models, a “contemporary” paint palette, and even more carbon fiber on the mirrors, side strakes, and the release of the exterior door.
Interior updates are of the same variety, with some cool features added to an already luxurious cabin. The upholstery has received a lot of attention, with the great tourer being now available with “Filograph” padded seats. The dark leather is paired with contrasting white stitching, while the corresponding “Vanquish S” embroidery adorns the head restraints. Although drivers do not look at the headrests while facing the steering wheel, they will notice the fresh and new finish of the center stack. All buttons and buttons are now enclosed in a satin fascia “Carbon Fiber”. I do not know what specific technique Aston Martin used to create this finish, but it’s downright great and I would like to see it replace the wood veneers throughout the cabin. Finally, the British also offer a Bridge of Weir Caithness leather upholstery, which is supposed to add “a touch of luxury and tactility”.
2018 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante Engine
The power 2018 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante comes from a 5.9-liter V-12, tuned here to deliver 580 horsepower and coupled with an 8-speed automated manual transmission. Aston Martin tells us that the transmission has been revised specifically for the Vanquish S to deliver faster changes and more refinement at low speeds. Vanquish S coupes will sprint at 62 mph in 3.5 seconds and the top at 201 mph. No figure for the convertible has been released but it should be similar.
2018 Aston Martin Vanquish Volante Price
All in all, it sounds like a very special way to catch the sun while driving very, very fast. Aston Martin has not confirmed a final price for the 2018 Vanquish S Volante yet, but the range as a whole starts at $ 312,950.
