2018 Bentley Flying Spur – Note another for the dark side while Bentley just unveiled the 2018 edition Flying Spur V8 S Black Edition. As the 2017 Continental GT Speed Black Edition introduced last year, the Flying Spur V8 S counterpart is barely an all-black exercise. Yet Bentley says that this latest take on its 4-door luxury offers a “darker” character regardless of the base color that the buyer can choose.
These early plans show that the car carries a lot of masking to conceal the updated style, but the overall shape of the front end strongly insists on the adoption of the new wider grid view of the Continental GT, while the headlights Fresh were also inspired by those seen on the all new coupe should appear too. Around the back, the taillights are hidden under stickers imitating the shape of the units found on the current model, but we expect them to turn into unique oval units on the new Conti.
The cabin should receive all fresh Continental GT jewelry, such as the new 12.3-inch infotainment system that puts the three-sided rotary panel in the dashboard. Under the skin, the wheelbase will be extended to accommodate four doors through the use of a modified version of the MSB platform that underpins the Continental GT. The cool architecture supports 48v electrification, so expect the cool technology of the coupe to wear directly, like the active anti-roll bars that power the Bentley Dynamic Ride suspension system.
Motivation for the Black Edition comes from the more powerful S version of the 4.0-liter Twin-Turbo V8 that makes 521 horsepower and 502 pound-feet of torque from the 500/487 statistics in a Flying Spur V8 base. Supported by an automatic 8-speed automatic ZF and a 60/40 AWD rear-biased system, it allows the latter Flying Spur to go from 0 to 60 km / h in 4.6 seconds to reach a higher speed of 190 km / h.
The 2018 Bentley Flying Spur V8 S Black prices start at $ 216,825. Order books are now open, and initial shipments from the US are expected to start in November.
