2019 BMW M8 – The M8 is one of BMW’s worst-kept secrets and now this recipe also applies to the convertible’s incarnation of the machine – you are now watching the first spyshots of the Grand Tourer outdoors.
Specifically, look for the front fascia to be an evolution of the current design with a large kidney grille with rounded edges, slender headlamps with LEDs and large sockets in the bumper with a mesh grid to sporty look. The rear will not be as exotic as the concept, but expects to see thin tail lights, a big spoiler at the top of the trunklid, and mandatory configuration of quad exhaust pipes and a carbon fiber diffuser. On the sides, look for a smaller opening in the front wing, but rear hips also muscular. The convertible stands out just above the waist, with a retractable top and a slightly different windshield. A removable roof also means that this M8 will miss the C-pillars and the sports roof roof of a traditional Grand Tourer, but this will only happen when the top is folded into the trunk. If the previous Bimmers are an indication, the convertible M8 soft top should mimic the roof of the coupe in almost every detail, so that owners can still admire this sexy form before switching to Infinite Infinite mode.
Although BMW has nothing to say about the interior of the M8, it is safe to assume that the high performance tourer will be based on the concept of the 8 Series. Look for a similar dashboard with clean design and great central stack with a large entertainment screen and modern controls without bulk. The large section of carbon fiber between the A / C controls and the shift lever should be reported in the 2019 BMW M8, although it is probably optional in the standard 8 series. As much as I like the steering wheel inspired from the concept race, I doubt very much that it will be transferred into the production car in this form. Look for a simple unit with revised controls, as well as redesigned side handles and a flat bottom. The sports steering wheel, probably highlighted by an “M” badge, should be joined by aluminum sports pedals. In a material way, the M8 Convertible will be equipped with the best. Expect fine leather to be included in the standard packaging, alongside hand-painted aluminum and carbon fiber inserts. As for most of the M car, the standard furnishings will come in black, but BMW will offer brighter colors for those looking for strong contrasts. Several individual options are offered in addition to the additional goodies that accompany each Bimmer.
Naturally, these M-tuned vehicles will be powered by the latest version of the company’s 4.4-liter V8 biturbo engine. As in the next M5, it is expected to provide more than 600 horsepower (447 kW), which can be delivered to all four wheels. Given the possibility of the AWD, BMW Blog says the M8 family could receive a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission rather than the dual auto-clutch of the current M models. The reason why the DCT unit is not configured for the layout of the driving wheels and will probably not be able to handle the massive amount of torque.
Because convertibles are usually more expensive than cuts, it is safe to assume that the 2019 BMW M8 Convertible will become the most expensive Bimmer. Until now, the most expensive M-related vehicle is the M760i xDrive, which exceeds $ 156,700. The M8 should not be much more expensive than that, but I expect the convertible to be over $ 170,000. If BMW were also producing a V-12 model, I thought I was ordering a $ 200,000 sticker.
