Ford has done a great job with Fiesta ST, Focus ST and RS, F-150 Raptor, Mustang GT350 and GT, but now it’s focused on delivering performance laughs to crossover SUV customers. The 2019 Ford Edge ST, which will make its world debut at the Detroit Auto Show in 2018, is the first crossover in the Ford lineup to get serious performance and earn the ST badge.
The regular 2019 Ford Edge ST is also refreshed for the 2019 model of the year, obtaining new facade elements, as well as a new rear bumper, tailgate and lighting. ST-specific appearance indices include a wide mesh grid, side skirts, and two exhaust outlets. His style gets some sporting improvements, including 21-inch alloy wheels.
Inside the car, other minor modifications were made to the seatbacks and the steering wheel. Elsewhere in the interior of the car will be the new Ford Sync 3 systems that comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Amazon Alexa and a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot. A number of wizard-wise functions will be added, including forward collision warning with auto-braking, blind spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, assist track tracking and post-collision braking.Other optional features include an automatic system B & O 12 speakers, adaptive cruise control, parking assistance and wireless charging.
The kickoff of the makeover is the installation of a 335 horsepower version of the 2.7-liter V6 twin-turbo, still with the EcoBoost brand. At 380 pound-feet of torque, it surpasses the 2.7-horsepower output of 20 horsepower and 30 lb-ft. Likewise, an eight-speed automatic transmission replaces the outboard Edge Sport’s six-speed automatic. Both should help propel the new Edge ST to 60 mph faster than the 5.6 seconds we recorded in the Edge Sport. The all-wheel drive is standard, and an ST-tuned suspension is mounted for a more precise response and better handling, Ford said.
Price options have not yet been confirmed but are expected to cost more than the standard $ 30,215 base price.
